Fairmont Spa Maui: Plan The Perfect Wailea Spa Day
If you’re dreaming about a spa day at Fairmont Spa Maui, let me save you some planning. Whether you’re staying at Fairmont Kea Lani or anywhere in South Maui, this is everything I wish I’d known before my own spa day. I’ll cover it all, from when to arrive to which treatment to book.
And yes, you can even book if you’re not a resort guest.
My Fairmont Spa Maui Experience
I’m on-island in Hawaiʻi nearly ten times a year, and on my most recent trip to Maui, I came looking for something specific: places that make slowing down easy. Pockets of quiet where you can drop out of your headspace and back into your body.
I gathered all of them in my Maui Wellness Guide, and this spa was one of the first places I knew had to be in it.

Why It’s One Of The Best Spas In Wailea
Fairmont Spa is built around mana, the Hawaiian word for life energy, and the idea that well-being comes from harmony with nature, people, and spirit. You feel that the moment you arrive. Thirteen treatment rooms and two open-air cabanas sit inside one of the most thoughtfully designed properties I’ve visited in Maui.

What stood out most, though, was how creatively their team weaves Hawaiian tradition into every detail. When you walk in, you’ll be immersed into a beautiful tropical garden with live Hawaiian music drifting through the lobby. Even the experience showers are named for island weather, like Ua Noe (Morning Mist) and Ua Hekili (Evening Storm). Then there are the locally sourced ingredients like the clays at the Clay Bar, the ti leaves and ʻalaea salt in the treatments. Every detail is intentional, and the warmth of the team made it all feel even more personal.
Your Fairmont Spa Day, Start To Finish
My visit to Fairmont Kea Lani was all about the spa this time, and honestly that’s all it took to fall for the entire place. Here’s how my day went so that you can prepare for yours.
Arriving At Fairmont Kea Lani
Walking onto this property feels like an immediate invitation to nourish yourself, and honestly – photos and videos don’t do it justice.
After a kind welcome at valet (as a spa guest, you’ll receive complimentary valet), the lobby opens into cathedral-like ceilings: soaring white arches and columns and a framed panoramic view of the ocean and pools straight ahead.

Lush tropical plants soften the architecture, and the smell of the gardens drifts throughout. When I arrived, a Hawaiian guitarist was strumming and singing island songs, and there were local artisans set up throughout. It’s one of those spots that you could linger for a while.
Checking In
Walking into the spa feels like stepping into another world. I arrived early, and the spa experience coordinator offered to check whether my appointment could be moved up so I’d have more time to relax afterward. It wasn’t possible that day, but the gesture said everything about the service here.
I was handed a cool Chlorophyll Water that tasted so refreshing as I was waiting for my Wahine Locker tour.
The Wahine Locker Room
Give yourself time here, because there’s a lot of wellness to lean into. The Wahine (Women’s) Locker Room has a eucalyptus steam room (I spent so much time in this!), three refreshing experience showers inspired by the Maui rain showers, and my favorite part – a Hawaiian Clay Bar.
Maui Experience Showers
The refreshing showers are programmed to simulate rain showers across the island during different times of day. Ua Noe is morning mist, Ua Naulu is the afternoon rain, and Ua Hekili is Evening Storm (my favorite of the three). The water massages your body as it cleanses your skin.

Hawaiian Clay Bar
Yes, it’s an actual bar of locally sourced clays. The self-application bar is stocked with a variety of clays from around the island including a eucalyptus-infused volcanic clay and a white lavender clay with Hawaiian kalo.

You apply them in your robe from the neck down and let them do their thing while you sit on heated benches in the lounge or head directly to the steam room.
My personal ritual was steam, clay, rinse, then steam again (you can tell I loved this steam room!). This is the exact routine I credit for kicking off the softest my skin has ever felt.
Eucalyptus Steam Room
Fairmont’s spacious steam room was incredibly hydrating and helped me ground down before my appointment. Paired with the clays, I could tell that it was a fantastic way to hydrate and nourish my skin.

I personally loved using the steam room prior to my appointment, but it could be a really nice way to wrap up your spa day and grab those last few deep breaths too.
Insider Tip
Phones stay out of the spa, so plan to bring a journal or an inspiring book for your time sitting with the clay.
The Co-Ed Lounge
The co-ed lounge is a peaceful spot to wait just before your appointment, or to hang out in longer if you’re visiting with your partner. You’ll find dried fruits, nuts, and a variety of teas and beverages.
I had it all to myself before my treatment, and it was the perfect quiet pause.
Your Treatment
Fairmont Spa’s offerings are full and diverse. They have a whole menu of Signature Journeys their team has handcrafted, massages, body treatments, facials, nail and even barber services.

Nearly every treatment leans on something local, like ʻalaea salt, ʻawa (kava), kukui and macadamia nut oils, warm pōhaku stones, and Maui vanilla. Most treatments can be booked solo or as a couple, and you can even take your massage outside to one of their Ocean Spa Cabanas.
There is so much to choose from, truly something for however you’re needing to nourish your mind and body. You’ll fill out a quick health form when you arrive, and your therapist walks you through everything before you start. I appreciated that, since some treatments have a few unique steps.
After Your Treatment
My skin felt different than it ever has. Baby-soft status. I left thinking that if I lived in Wailea, this would absolutely be a regular part of my self-care.
After spending some more time in the Wahine Locker Room, visit their boutique because it is filled with products used in their treatments. I couldn’t leave without the body butter used in the Natural Hawaiian Journey, and I’ve already run out.

I highly recommend planning for a drink, lunch, or dinner on-property if you’re visiting the spa as a guest. Every restaurant at Fairmont Kea Lani is so intentionally created, and any of them would be a fantastic place to linger for a bit.

Which Fairmont Treatment Should You Book?
You can tell by looking at their menu how thoughtful the Fairmont team was in putting it together. Every treatment is thoughtfully rooted in local ingredients and Hawaiian practices.
These treatments caught my eye for next time:
- For an oceanfront massage: Custom massage in the Ocean Spa Cabana (choose Lomi Lomi for a traditional Hawaiian massage experience), 60 or 90 minutes, $305 or $425.
- For releasing deep tension: Hawaiian Pōhaku (Stone) massage with warm stones and kukui oil, 60 or 90 minutes, $275 or $380.
- For couples: Kuʻuipo Retreat, with tandem scrubs and a couples massage, 90 minutes, $390 per person.
- For sun-tired skin: Aloha Glow Facial with Hawaiian botanicals (I can literally smell this one from the description), 60 or 90 minutes, $275 or $405.
Prices current as of October 2026

The Natural Hawaiian Journey
I was hosted for the Natural Hawaiian Journey ($515, 120 minutes), and I’d recommend it to anyone. It’s rooted in Hawaiian traditions, and it unfolds in stages, so your therapist walks you through it first. I loved how there was always more to come, and the way each treatment segment stacks upon the other felt like it was exactly what I needed to take a deep breath.
It begins with an ʻalaea scrub, a blend of Hawaiian salt and volcanic clay. After a couple of weeks of sun and sand, I didn’t realize how badly my skin needed it, and I could feel the difference right away.
Next comes a clay body mask. It’s brushed on in a way that felt so calming and luxurious.
Then, the lau kī. Big, beautiful ti leaves are layered over your body to cocoon you, and I’d never experienced anything like it. While your body rests, a pressure point facial massage and an ʻawapuhi scalp treatment ground you even further (this is the exact moment that I realized the staff would know me by name if I lived locally!).
Insider Tip
ʻAwapuhi is so moisturizing, but don’t plan anything directly after this treatment without planning to shower and blow dry because your hair will be soaked.
It all ends with a full-body massage (bliss!) using Maui vanilla cocoa coconut body butter. The smell truly sent me somewhere else, and it’s richer and more nourishing than any oil-based massage I’ve ever received.
Tips For Planning Your Fairmont Spa Day
These are the things I’d tell a girlfriend before she books her own spa day here.
- Book about two weeks ahead, especially for the cabanas.
- Arrive early. You can use the facilities for an hour before and after. I’d split it up, about an hour before and 30 minutes after my appointment.
- Book the Natural Hawaiian Journey at the end of your trip, so you fly home with revitalized skin. Plan for an oceanside massage for the beginning, to help you ground and settle in.
- Booking only nails? Facility access is included only with a manicure and pedicure combination.

Yes, Fairmont Spa welcomes non-resort guests, which makes it an easy spa day for anyone staying in Wailea.
How Much Does Fairmont Spa Maui Cost?
Treatments run roughly $80 to $515, with Signature Journeys like the Natural Hawaiian Journey at the top of that range. Hawaiʻi state tax applies, and gratuity is at your discretion.
How Early Should I Arrive?
Plan to arrive 30 minutes to an hour before your treatment. Guests can enjoy the beautiful locker room facilities for an hour before and after – definitely plan time for this, it adds so much to the spa day here.
Final Thoughts: Fairmont Spa Maui
If you’re staying in Wailea (or anywhere on the island), a day at Fairmont Spa Maui is worth planning around. Book a signature treatment, get there early for Wahine locker room amenities, and plan a dinner on property afterward.
I spend so much of my year in Hawaiʻi, and I’ve learned to look for the places that truly honor their location. This spa does it in every detail, from the local ingredients in the treatments to the island weather the showers are named after. My skin has never felt softer, and I’ve already gone through a whole jar of that vanilla cocoa coconut body butter at home.
Whenever you go, I hope you take your time here. Linger in the steam room a few extra minutes, let the lau kī cocoon you, and stroll down Wailea Beach Path afterwards with that Maui vanilla scent still on your skin. You deserve every bit of it.
