The moon, our closest celestial neighbor, has a 29.5 day cycle representing a full life-cycle. Each phase has a completely different meaning and while some people feel swayed by the shifting phases of the moon more than others, the changing cycles of the moon are undeniably choice times to check in with different areas of our lives. Even if you don't feel super influenced by the moon, getting to know what the different phases signify and implementing them into your life can be a highly effective way to stay on course, practice self care and continue to dream and challenge yourself.
The full moon is the marker of the mid-point in our 29.5 day lunar cycle. During a Full Moon, the Moon sits opposite the Sun and is completely illuminated, reflecting the light of our Sun. Appearing when the moon and sun are on opposite sides of the earth in an almost yin & yang like way, the full moon can lend to a heightened energies and extreme emotions.
The full moon is an incredible reminder to release what doesn't serve you.
During the fall and winter seasons, we tend to hunker down a bit, get cozy, eat warm and even get clear on our dreams and desires. October's Full Hunter Moon (October 24th during 2018) was a time where tribes harvested the last of the season's crops, hunted for the long season ahead and prepared for the shifting of seasons. It was a time of arrangement and organization.

Use These 5 Steps To Harness The Energy Of This Week's Full Moon To Organize & Purge Your Space Without Getting
This month's full moon is the perfect trigger to prep your space so that it feels like a place you want to be and a space where you can dream and manifest during these upcoming seasons. It serves as an incredible reminder to release what doesn't serve you and clear some space for the new.
1. Write Down Your Desires
It can be completely overwhelming to look at the project of organizing your space even when you're not dealing with the intense energy of the full moon. Minimize the overwhelm by making a list. Walk through room by room and jot down a few things that would feel great to re-organize and a few things that would feel great to purge.
Once you craft this list, shift the rooms around in order of priority. If you don't get to all of the tasks, what are you ok with letting go until the next time you devote time to it?
Also consider keeping a separate Dream Space list. As you're walking through each room, write down bucket list items that you would love to eventually put into place, create or shift around that might be a longer term project or financial commitment.
2. Carve Out Time
This month, the full moon is on Wednesday October 24th and this entire week is an excellent time to harness this energy. After looking at your list, carve out some time in your schedule that will feel great to devote to your home space this week. It's nice to be able to focus your energy for a large chunk of time, but sometimes that isn't ideal - and it can also be really beneficial to devote a few separate chunks of time. Base your schedule on how you tend to work best.
3. Prep Your Space...To Prep Your Space (kidding not kidding)
This step is meant to make your purge fun and not get too crazy (cue intense full moon energy). Allow this space cleanse to feel good...like DIVINE...so good that you can't wait to harness full moon energy again.
Get all of your favorite smells and sounds going before you begin. Diffuse your favorite oils (bonus points if you choose oils that assist in cleansing your space like lavender, lemon, cypress, grapefruit or sage) and play that feel good music you love. Approach your clean out with gratitude for the things you have, the way you'll be passing them on and the minimizing you're creating.
4. Recycle, Share, Donate & Sell
Keep it simple. As you go through each area, create piles of unwanted items that you're recycling, items to share with friends and family, items to donate to those who need and can't afford them and the items you would like to sell. Having trouble deciding if you want to keep something or pass it on? Follow your first instinct about shifting items that you no longer need to one of these piles. If you're not sure about getting rid of it yet, keep a mental note to check in on it during your next home cleanse.
5. Re-Organize & Dust Off
Once you've decided what you're purging in a section of your room, take the time to put things back in a way that feels great. Use your favorite essential oil surface cleaner to literally clean your space. Then as you put items back, place them in a way that feels organized and looks great to you. Consider placing your things in a different way. Think about your everyday interaction with these items and how you can best store and display them to keep them organized while in use.
Prep your space so that it feels like a place you want to be and a space where you can dream and manifest during these upcoming seasons.
We have so many commitments and so much stimulation in our lives. Using the powerful lunar energy during a full moon to check in, trigger change and create space feels lovely and purposeful. It's a task that is carried on into the upcoming weeks months and years of your life. What part of your space are you most excited to cleanse this week?
